Beets of different types contribute with several ingredients in our products, for example the nourishing amino acids Glycine and Lysine. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein, and they supply the skin with valuable nutrients. From sugarbeets we derive natural Lactic Acid, of the type that preserves moisture in our own bodies. Natural Lactic Acid has a revitalising and gently exfoliating effect on the skin. It also strengthens the skin's collagen fibres. NB Lactic Acid can also be made synthetically, but not with the same beneficial properties. Another ingredient that we derive from sugarbeets is DHA (Dihydroxiaceton), a sugar that is used in self-tanners. This substance turns brown when it comes in contact with oxygen in the air and proteins found in the skin's outer layer. The effect is much like that of a peeled apple. The colour stays on the surface, instead of penetrating the skin like a tan.
